Your first API call in 5 minutes
This guide walks you through authenticating with the Sellvy API, listing your products, and creating a new one. You will be up and running in under five minutes.
Get your API key
Open your Sellvy dashboard and navigate to Settings → API Keys. Click Create API Key and select read + write permissions.
Your key will start with one of the following prefixes:
| Prefix | Environment | Use for |
|---|---|---|
sk_live_ | Production | Live transactions and real orders |
sk_test_ | Sandbox | Development and testing without real charges |
List your products
All requests use the X-API-Key header for authentication. Make a GET request to fetch your product catalog:
curl -X GET https://sellvy.io/api/v1/products \
-H "X-API-Key: sk_live_your_api_key" \
-H "Content-Type: application/json"Create a product
Send a POST request to create a new product in your store. Include the product details in the request body as JSON:
curl -X POST https://sellvy.io/api/v1/products \
-H "X-API-Key: sk_live_your_api_key" \
-H "Content-Type: application/json" \
-d '{
"title": "Starter UI Kit",
"price": 49.00,
"type": "digital_download",
"description": "<p>A complete UI kit with 120+ components for modern web apps.</p>",
"visibility": "public"
}'Understand the response
Every Sellvy API response follows a consistent envelope format. A successful response wraps the result in a data field alongside a success boolean:
{
"success": true,
"data": {
"id": "prod_k8v2m9x1",
"title": "Starter UI Kit",
"slug": "starter-ui-kit",
"price": 49.00,
"currency": "USD",
"type": "digital_download",
"visibility": "public",
"stock": null,
"description": "<p>A complete UI kit with 120+ components for modern web apps.</p>",
"created_at": "2026-04-06T14:22:00Z",
"updated_at": "2026-04-06T14:22:00Z"
}
}When an error occurs, the response includes an error object with a machine-readable code and a human-readable message:
{
"success": false,
"error": {
"code": "VALIDATION_ERROR",
"message": "title, type, and price are required"
}
}success field before accessing data. On error responses, data will be absent and error will be present instead.Next steps
